Difficulty: Strenuous at first, but Average after
Conditions: Snowy and cold
Impression: THis is an easy hike for me to mix in a day and after today, one i will be doing more of later in the year...it too me about 2:45 mins with the most difficult part being the first 2 miles...there's a mile and a half stretch where the elevation gain is 1300', but after that only a few minor ups and downs...when the trees have no leaves, the downhill into Damascus offers views of town and the surrounding valleys..it's always a good day when i'm on the AT...
Directions to Trailhead:
Easily accessed from downtown Damascus, VA by taking S. Shady Ave/TN 133 south off of 58 for 4 miles to Backbone...falls are on the east side of the road, the trail begins on the west...easy to follow as the trail is blue blazed...
